Leef Services is the largest, independent, industrial laundry service in the Upper Midwest. We serve all of Minnesota as well as significant portions of Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota. Our association with the Central States Corporation Network (CSC), a consortium of fellow independent owners and operators, also gives us the capabilities to service regional and national accounts covering multiple states. In 1908, with a horse-drawn wagon and an idea that railroad employees had coveralls that needed to be laundered and mended, J.H. (Harry) Leef began the Minneapolis Overall Company. Alone, he picked up, cleaned, repaired, ironed and delivered the overalls back to the railroad workers. The equipment at his plant consisted of a small washer, hand wringer, home sewing machine and a charcoal operated hand iron. The building he rented cost eight dollars per month, plus another two dollars for the stall for his horse. We’ve grown significantly in the years since then, but our original commitment to providing exceptional service has not changed at all. Our history is one of ongoing innovation to meet the needs of our customers. As the area’s pioneer in the industrial laundry business, we led our industry with the introduction of rental garments, finish-edge industrial towels and treated dust control products. We also helped develop and test the “walk-off” mats that evolved into the complete track control system available from Leef today. Currently, we are implementing leading edge RFID Garment Tracking Technology called Leef iD. We are continually researching new ways to serve our customers and their changing needs. Today, Leef serves over 8,000 customers, and is over 300 employees strong. We have production facilities in Minneapolis, MN; Duluth, MN; and Fargo, ND with distribution centers in St. Cloud, MN; Waseca, MN; Grand Forks, ND; and Watertown, SD. Leef Services is now in its third generation of family ownership and still adheres to the guiding principles it was founded upon.
